Thailänder Wedding Customs

When planning a wedding ceremony in Thailand there are many different events that need to be performed in order that the few to get married. While Thailänder culture isn’t as seriously influenced simply by western customs as it was previously, there are still many classic customs to be followed and experienced on events like a marriage ceremony.

One of the important regions of a thailänder wedding may be the ceremony known as the khan maak. During this marriage ceremony the groom and his family group will shape a procession to take trays (khanhmaak) filled with offerings towards the bride’s house. The offerings are usually gold coins, betel peanuts, rice, incense sticks and candles, plants, and various other auspicious items which signify like, prosperity, fertility, and durability. The khan maak can be carried to the bride’s home with a song and move that portrays the groom’s generosity.

When the khan maak has been taken to the bride’s house, the parents of the groom and bride will meet as a way to talk about how much of any dowry shall be paid. This is known as sin grass and is similar to what would be called a dowry in the west. After the dowry is decided, the staff of the soon-to-be husband and new bride will have the monks perform a blessing to ensure that their marital relationship will be full of love and happiness.

During this wedding service the groom’s family will give you a red cloth for the bride’s mother to ornament over her body system and mind. Then the bridegroom and bride-to-be will hold hands and be joined together by a thread that may be looped around both of their mind. This is to symbolize that they are joining their families as you but remain independent persons as well.

Following this marriage ceremony, the parents with the groom and bride will likely then prepare a rack of popped rice, espresso beans, sesame seed products, paddies, flowers, and a red towel that symbolizes their dowry. They will after that go to the bride’s residence and ask her father if they will present this to his daughter about her wedding day. He will probably then provide permission with regards to the dowry to be provided at the marriage ceremony.

The bridegroom will also make merit just for his ancestors by offering funds and meals for the monks that is attending the wedding ceremony. On the day for the wedding ceremony, the couple will wear a regular Thai outfit and the service will begin which has a prayer.
